Corporate Controller

Our client, a well-established industry leader that supplies global semiconductor chip manufacturers around the world is looking for a Corporate Controller to be a critical and strategic part of their leadership team. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the accounting and reporting function, treasury, tax, manufacturing finance, and accounting operations. This role will lead the development and execution of financial and accounting processes and controls devised to mitigate risk, strengthen the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with progressive international reporting standards.  This a long-term, direct hire role with our client located in Portland, Oregon.

  • Consolidate information to establish major economic objectives and policies for the company in collaboration with the company President
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the finance and accounting team, ensuring an optimum level of performance in a positive team environment, and broadening developmental and advancement opportunities for the team
  • Provide financial and accounting analysis, reporting, and advice to management with the ability to articulate complex financial and legal information that enables the best possible outcomes
  • Institute financial models for strategic planning scenarios and conduct financial forecasts
  • Preside over all aspects of accounting and finance processes and controls
  • Provide internal and external monthly financial statements, and annual audits and budgets
  • Manage relationships with external accountants, tax advisors and auditors overseeing the annual audit process
  • Drive the company’s compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley rules and ensure an effective internal control environment and the highest ethical standards are met.
  • Ensure regular updates and compliance of GAAP practices
  • Own treasury function, including cash management, investments, short-term and long-term operational funding as well as evaluating foreign exchange considerations
  • Own tax compliance and ensure taking advantage of favorable tax codes
  • Oversee and review the following activities:
    • Preparation of the annual tax accrual, tax return various sales, use and property tax returns
    • All financial reporting to the auditors, creditors, and the financial community as well as maintaining fiscal records
    • Accounts receivable & payables, employee expense reports, cash control, payroll processing and corporate payroll tax compliance
    • Cost accounting system, inventory valuation, expense analyses, product costing and variance accounting for manufactured and sourced products
    • Credit and collections
    • The financial impact of company benefits plans
    • Distribution of bi-weekly payroll
    • Shareholders’ transactions including stock transactions, stock book value, dividends, special distributions, and shareholder tax reporting
    • Technology and information systems that impact Finance and accounting functions
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or Finance required, Accounting is preferred
  • CPA certification preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience including increasing responsibility in an accounting and finance role required
  • 3+ years in an accounting leadership role required
  • Proven leadership capability with involvement in organizational planning, resource allocation, and effective management of people and resources required
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley required
  • International finance and accounting experience required
  • Experience with inventory, raw materials and valuation of inventory required
  • Experience with ERP system/s required
  • Public or Private Manufacturing Company experience preferred
  • Excels in advanced thinking, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written skills, and experience working with staff on all levels
