IT Manager

Our client, a well-established manufacturing company is looking for a IT Manager to be a critical and strategic part of their leadership team. This role will be responsible for leading and driving all core technology initiatives for the company. The position champions technological security, quality, and performance to meet and exceed internal and external customers’ needs and expectations. This a long-term, direct hire role with our client located in Portland, Oregon.

  • Provides overall leadership of the IT function and is responsible for insuring deliverance of secure, fast, reliable, and efficient IT services to the company
  • Responsibilities encompass many different technologies, capabilities, and functions related to IT, including planning, budgeting, security and performance monitoring, as well as installation/replacement, updates/patches, admin & security for all current and future hardware (servers, desktops, laptops, network, switches, access points, and cabling), software (operating systems, ERP, and variety of utility, security, and user applications), office systems (phones-desk & mobile, printers, copiers, AV, and website), as well as dotted line and/or direct line responsibility for operational technology (security systems, production technology hardware software printers readers, bar-coding tools, HMI, and PLC devices)
  • Supervise one full-time direct report (Systems Administrator) as well as manage key strategic partnership with established MSP contracted to perform specific IT related duties, tasks, and responsibilities and to also provide on-call and emergency IT expertise and back-up
  • Key partner with other company leaders in managing all Operational Technology (OT) functions
  • Manages IT vendors and partnerships for optimal security, performance and cost efficiency
  • Consults and engages with company leadership and outside experts to analyze and plan for future IT/OT systems’ needs and assists in the development of system solutions consistent with organizational objectives
  • Determines scope and priorities of annual IT projects, and recommends system capacity and equipment acquisitions
  • Collaborates with others across company teams, departments, and functions for continuous improvement of IT/OT security, employee safety, operational performance, and systems integration
  • Oversees and develops IT Governance: standards, policies, practices, documentation, software licensing, disaster planning/business continuity, IT risk management, IT capital budgeting, vendor management, and related functions
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a scientific discipline, or equivalent training and/or experience required, Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science preferred
  • 3+ years in an Information Technology leadership role including experience supervising one or more direct reports required, preferably in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment
  • Direct experience and knowledge in the following areas: advanced level experience with Server/PC hardware and software, advanced level experience with TCP/IP (LAN & WAN Support), experience with Microsoft Exchange Server, Windows Server, SharePoint, MS Office Suite, experience with Sophos Firewall and VPN required
  • Experience with SQL programming and web development, with telecommunications and wiring required
  • Experience in developing and applying effective IT standards, policies, and protocols required
  • Experience in IT disaster recovery or business continuity planning and execution required
  • Experience working in chemicals and/or semiconductor industry preferred
  • Experience with ERP software required
  • Professional certifications such as: CISSP Certified Information Systems Security Professional from (ISC)², ITIL® v3 Foundation, PMP or CAPM from Project Management Institute, as well as certifications awarded by CompTIA, Microsoft and others highly desired
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills and practical knowledge of IT operations in a
  • manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to remotely analyze problems
  • Proven organizational, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Excellent communicator (verbal and written) with strong interpersonal skills capable of interacting positively and professionally with people at all levels of the organization, vendors, and contractors
  • Knowledge of emerging technology trends and risks
  • Knowledge and skill in training and developing IT staff
  • Ability to communicate IT technology, impact, and strategy to others in the business
  • Experience working with an IT MSP
  • Excels in advanced thinking, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written skills, and experience working with staff on all levels
